Amazon to buy Audible for $300 million

Everyone’s talking about the other acquisition prospect which, in my humble opinion, is doomed for failure (and I’m a stock holder in both of those compaines). Amazon and Audible, however, is a match made in heaven. This could swing the online distribution of audio into Amazon’s favor.

A few nights ago I wanted to test out the Amazon music store to compare it to iTunes so I bought a DRM-free (!!!) version of Serymore Saves the World. It went super smoothly and within a couple minutes I was listening to the album in iTunes. Now, if Amazon chooses to offer DRM-free (!!!) Audible books exclusively on their website, iTMS can only offer DRM’ed version of the same book you can but on Amazon. Who’s going to want the DRM version?
