I think as a fan I am a better one than I was pre-2008. I learned a lot about life through this. Through football. I’ll always support the team and the school forever. But I lost respect for a very large chunk of the people who call themselves fans of Michigan football.

Finally Letting Go/End Of An Idea - MGoBlog

This pretty well encapsulates my thoughts about firing Rich Rodriguez, although I’m still on the “he should’ve gotten at least another year” side. If David Brandon can hire a better coach - not named Jim Harbaugh - than Rich Rodriguez, I will be very surprised. Rich got a raw deal here and, as a alumnus, I’m ashamed for that.

Think your winter’s going bad? At least you don’t live in the Japanese Alps where they get 56 feet of snow.

Sam Cox and Justin LaRosa team up to create Physical Fiction, a Lego letterpress company.

They use smooth tiles as pixels in their video-game-like designs, snapping them on a flat Lego base mounted to wood. Paint is applied with a roller, and the whole thing is pressed to paper, leaving their inked impression.

Typography Furniture is the brainchild of German-based designer and photographer Mark Lauckhardt. Although I have a feeling it’s very uncomfortable, the idea is pretty cool.

Zander said he had been dispatched as a courier with an important envelope and then said, “I suppose you want the documents?”

Not knowing what the papers were, Mr. Weiss answered in the affirmative and escorted Zander to a farm on the outskirts of Munich, where the German soldier had hidden the manila envelope in a suitcase at the bottom of a dry well.

Mr. Weiss opened the package and read the typed heading on the first page: “Mein privates Testament,” signed by Hitler on April 29, 1945, at 4 a.m - the day before he died.

How has Arnold Weiss’ life not been turned into a movie yet? Read his obit from last week and try and tell me this story wouldn’t win at least one Oscar. Screenwriters out there, have at it.

This album has been constantly playing in my headphones since it was released a couple weeks ago. This song especially stands out to me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

When we were visiting Kentuck Knob this summer we were told the property owner’s daughter turned 21 a few weeks before. She decided to bring her friends to the house and celebrate by sleeping in a tipi out back.

When we finished the house tour, we headed down a trail in the backyard that led to an overlook of the surrounding hills. As we walked past a few wind chimes, we could see the light peaking though the trees. Once we came acrossed the opening, this was the view we saw. It was spectacular! The tipi really made the view something special. (Also, this photo is taken directly off the camera. There was no editing of it at all. How amazing is that?)

What’s funny is that Frank Lloyd Wright told the Hagen’s - the original owners - that they would soon be tired of this view and to set the house back about 200 yards on the hill. I’m not sure I agree after seeing the view in person.

Anyways, this was the most “Thanksgiving-y” photo I found in my few short minutes looking. Enjoy the day with your family and go Lions!

When you feel like your life is bad, thank your lucky stars you’re not this guy.

I met both Carl Page and Larry Page at a party hosted by a Stanford friend of mine in 1998. Carl gave me his card for eGroups and said “we’re hiring”. Larry gave me his card for Google—a flimsy bit of paper obviously printed by bubble jet—and said “we’re hiring”.
I said, “Nah, who needs another search engine?” and went to graduate school.
