The Generic City →
dailymeh:
In Dutch architech Rem Koolhaas’s mind, modern cities tend toward The Generic City. The Generic City emerges unplanned; it is soulless devoid of life and individuality. It is “a city without qualities”. It “will work — that’s all”. There is no urbanism, or so he says, there is only ideology. Peter Lindberg summarizes:
The Generic City is a fractal, Koolhaas writes, repeating its shape...
The Real Winners of this Election
So for the past few months, we’ve been privvy to tons of slander, falsities and negative campaigning. It sounds pretty bad right? Wrong. We’ve also been introduced to tons of American stereotypes and caricatures that none of us knew before!

Hockey Moms (the new Soccer Moms)
Crazy McCain Cat Lady
And, of course, Joe the Plumber

My slides from my Web 2.0 Expo Europe workshop on Mobile 2.0.
Feel free to use, recycle, but most of all: do. The mobile web will be a far more interesting place with you in it.
One of, if not the, best presentations I’ve seen on the mobile web. Take 10 minutes and look through the slides (there’s a lot of them) and let it sink it. Pretty good, and interesting, stuff Brian....

Need a beach? Me too, but it looks like we’re too late. Somebody already took it.

It was discovered in July that 500 truck-loads had been removed outside a planned resort at Coral Spring beach.
Detectives say people in the tourism sector could be suspects,...

The new feature, when enabled, makes you solve simple math problems when sending mail late at night. It’s like a captcha for sobriety!
Omg I wish there was something like this for my phone to prevent those calls/texts that I inevitably regret
On of the biggest technological breakthroughs in decades.

Google Blog:
Hidden in a corner beneath Larry’s and Sergey’s original lab coats, we found a vintage search index in mint condition. We dusted it off and took it for a spin, gobsmacked to see how different the web was in early 2001. (…) We had so much fun searching that we wanted to put this old index online for everyone to play with.
This is awesome.
Appearently I had no web...
